Host families

Dalmac offers host family accommodation with Irish families. Dalmac boasts a large database of host families throughout the country, many of whom have been hosting with us for over 10 years and continue to enjoy the cultural and social exchange.

From experience Dalmac has observed that students maximize their learning experience when staying with host-families as opposed to other forms of accommodation. Host family accommodation ensures that students become involved with the local community through their host family and have the opportunity to experience a true Irish lifestyle with its traditions and cultures. Daily conversations with host families dramatically improve student’s verbal communication skills. Invariably host families, especially in the case of junior students, become close and constant friends to students long after their stay in Ireland .

Our host families have long tradition of taking care of our foreign visitors. Each family is carefully chosen and inspected by a member of our staff. This inspection and continous assessment process is maintained through questionnaires and feedback from students/clients.

Each student and host family are linked by our host family coordinators. Many factors are taken into consideration when placing a student with one of our host families - for this reason we always ask and encourage our students to give us as much information as possible about themselves when submitting their booking form. Information such a likes/dislikes, hobbies, sporting, interest, preferences, etc are invaluable to our staff when choosing the host-family. It is also extremely important that any special dietary needs, such as diabetics, vegetarians, coeliacs, vegans, or information on medical or animal allergies is made known at the time of booking. Supplements will be charged for those requiring a special diet.

Unless otherwise stated, host family accommodation is on a full board basis and is inclusive of the following…

• Twin room-sleeping facilities

• Daily access to shower/bathing facilities

• Breakfast

• Lunch (packed)

• Evening meal

• Reasonable amounts of laundry

Where possible, all students participating in a Dalmac Language School course with English Classes will be placed with a host family within walking distance to the location of their EFL classes.

Accommodation is arranged on behalf of the participant on a “per night” basis-ie. 1 week = 7 nights. Fees incurred for additional nights will be determined by the type of course booked and will be confirmed upon confirmation of booking.

Alternative Accommodation

Students who require alternative accommodation have the option of booking Bed and Breakfast accommodation or Hotel accommodation.
